Scope and Content

This collection is titled to reflect the title deeds and correspondence relating to the ownership of the manors of Horley & Hornton and of Middleton Cheney. However it also comprises series of deeds for property in the Manors of Bloxham Beauchamp and Bloxham Fiennes and other premises in parishes in north Oxfordshire and outside the county. In addition, there is a section of World War 2 Civil Defence papers.

The Stockton family feature prominently in the documents, and it is probable that the documents formerly formed part of the Stockton & Fortescue solicitors' papers (see catalogue SL35). Related and complementary records can also be found in collection M5 - Prebendal Manor of Horley and Hornton .

The records were given to the office in February 2016, as accession 6434.

Catalogued by Mark Priddey and Hilary Morse, August-September 2020.
