Scope and Content

Goring is a town in the far south of Oxfordshire, on the banks of the River Thames. It includes within its boundaries the chapelry of Goring Heath (whose records are catalogued as PAR116 below). Since 1982, Goring has been united with the parish of South Stoke.

All the parish records of Goring were originally deposited with the Bodleian Library in 1981, except for PAR115/16/H1/1-2, which were deposited with Oxfordshire Archives in 1976 by Goring Parish Council as Acc. 1290. Further records were deposited as Acc 5773 in September 2008 and Acc 6049 in December 2011. An appendix provides a concordance of old and new references.

Recatalogued by Robin Darwall-Smith in September 1996, with additions made by Hannah Jones, December 2008 and Alison Smith October 2018.
