Administrative / Biographical History

This bank was formed in about 1788 as C & S St Barbe. Its leading partner was Charles St Barbe, a local grocer and salt manufacturer. It was also known as the Lymington Bank. The business was acquired by the Capital & Counties Bank (est. 1877) in 1896.
