Administrative / Biographical History

The National Union of Hosiery Workers was formed in 1945 from an amalgamation of unions. The name changed to the National Union of Hosiery Workers and Knitwear in 1967. In 1991 it merged with the National Union of the Footwear, Leather and Allied Trades to form the National Union of Knitwear, Footwear and Apparel Trades (KFAT). In 2004 the Iron and Steel Trades Confederation merged with KFAT to form Community (Trade Union).
