Created under the Local Government Act 1894 and superseded that part of the Wallingford Union Rural Sanitary Authority which was in Oxfordshire. Under the Oxfordshire Review Order 1932, the Crowmarsh Rural District was abolished and parts transferred to Henley and Bullingdon Rural Districts. Full details of parishes and boundary changes within the district can be found in F A Youngs Guide to the Local Administrative Units of England: Southern England (Vol 1). In common with other rural and urban district councils, amongst its many responsibilities, Crowmarsh RDC was responsible for public health, housing, rating, planning, building regulations, water supplies, sewerage and some roads. The collection was originally catalogued as Crowmarsh RDC (accession numbers 740, 741, 918, 1117, 1548, 1549, 1550, 1551). Re-catalogued by Chris Gilliam, Della Fredericks and Maria Morris with additional records from accession numbers 740 & 5915. Date completed: January 2012.
