The Trust was set up with the intention of being a 'political trust' but later changed to a 'charitable trust'. It was renamed the Nunburnholme Trust after their founder (Charles Henry Baron Nunburnholme) who stated he wished to set up such a trust in his will. The Boulevard property belonging to the West Hull Liberal Trust was rented out to be used as a Police Boys' Club in 1943.
