Papers of Professor Ken Bowen, operational research specialist

This collection consists of records relating to Bowen's government and academic career and his research interests. Most items contain a mixture of published and draft research papers, correspondence and notes.

Kenneth Crewdson Bowen was born on 19 October 1919. Between 1941 and 1979 he held various scientific posts in the Admiralty and the Ministry of Defence, including statistician and mathematical analyst at the Admiralty Signal and Radar Establishment from 1946, Head of War Studies at the Admiralty Directorate of Operational Research, 1960-1965, and Superintendent of Maritime Studies, 1965-1967, and Head of Research, 1967-1979, at the Defence Operational Analysis Establishment. From 1981 to 2006 he was Visiting Professor of Operational Research in the mathematics department of Royal Holloway College, University of London. He died on 16 March 2007.
