Scope and Content

Miscellaneous correspondence, dated 1909, comprising personal letters, letters re church antiquities (bells, furniture, plate, etc.), some re genealogy, and others re J. T. Evans's publications on church plate. Also a number of letters and articles re the folklore and customs of Cascob parish (co. Rad.) and the surrounding area, sent to J. T. Evans by the Rev. J. J. Thomas and his wife, Cascob Rectory, Presteign. Other correspondents include: Helen Cripps (Countess Bismark), Cirencester; Francis Were, Bristol; H. B. Walters, British Museum; Col J. A. Bradney, Monmouth; T. W. Barker, Carmarthen; and the Rev. George Lewis, Gloucester. Also a typewritten copy of 'Plebeian origin of the English aristocracy', an article from St James' Magazine 1870-1875.
