Scope and Content

Correspondence dated 1898-1911, addressed to J. T. Evans, largely re his work on church plate, etc. The majority are concerned with Breconshire plate. A group of earlier letters is concerned with a missing volume of parish registers from Stow-on-the-Wold. Correspondents include: Helen Cripps (Countess Bismark), Cirencester; the Rev. George Lewis, Gloucester; Miss Gwenllian Morgan, Brecon; H. B. Walters, British Museum; Francis Were, Bristol; and the Rev. Alfred E. Evans, Garthbrengy. (There are also a few personal letters from T[homas] H[enry] Evans, Johannesburg). A pamphlet printed at Brecon, concerning the history of John Penry, the 'Breconshire Martyr', hanged in 1593, (n.d.). 116 Pp. Indexed.
