Administrative / Biographical History

The county of Flintshire falls within the Diocese of St Asaph and consists of over fifty ecclesiastical parishes, including the parish of St Asaph itself. The records of individual ecclesiastical parishes in Flintshire include registers of baptisms, marriages and burials, as well as records of the churchwardens and Parochial Church Councils, parish charities, schools, clubs and societies. Parish records were deposited at the Clwyd Record Office, following an agreement of 1976 between the Church in Wales and the Welsh County Councils.

Arranged into seven groups, by deposit: Group One, incumbent records, churchwarden's records, accounts, Parochial Church Council records, records of church affairs, vestry records, overseer's records, surveyor's records, records of charities, school records, and tithe records; Group Two, St Asaph charity deeds; Group Three, incumbent records, records of church affairs; Group Four, incumbent records and churchwarden's accounts; Group Five, incumbent records; Group Six, churchwarden's records, Easter vestry minutes, and Parochial Church Council records; and Group Seven, overseer's rate book.
