Scope and Content

Silver tankard with cover. Signed: "London hallmarks for 1799/1800 on body and 1811/12" on cover. Base engraved "Sorley Glasgow". Engraved: "Presented to Francis Henry Newbery with a purse of sovereigns on the occasion of his marriage, by members of the Glasgow School of Art and Haldane Academy, September 1889". Tankard presented to Newbery with matching salver (NMC/452).

Francis Newbery; Mary Newbery Sturrock; on her death presented to GSA by her nephew Fred Lang, 1985.
