Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
The Anti-Apartheid Movement within the University, with support of Hull University Union, had been lobbying and campaigning for the divestment of Hull University's Reckitt and Colman shares. Reckitt and Colman was a local firm with extensive interests in South Africa and Rhodesia, and students involved in the sit in wished to 'sever [the University's] relationship with the foul South-African political system.'
