ASE rules, 1847-92, 1904-16; file of local (including joint) rule booklets, 1908-20; miscellaneous publications, including 'A Sketch of the Life's Work of Alfred Sellicks' (1903); miscellaneous labour movement pamphlets, mainly pre-1914, including eight concerning John Burns, 1890-1909.

Administrative / Biographical History

Dr Brian Weekes completed his Ph.D. at the University of Warwick in 1970 on the Amalgamated Society of Engineers (ASE). Dr Weekes worked in the Industrial Relations Research Unit at Warwick University. In May 1976 he was elected as a Labour member of Warwick District Council. He served as leader of the Labour group from July 1977 until 1981, when he resigned his position after taking up an appointment elsewhere.

This collection was deposited in the Centre by Dr Weekes in 1981. There have been two additional deposits, the last in 1983.
