Scope and Content

The company was founded by W. Hews in 1846 from premises at 15 Hart Street, Henley-on-Thames. The business was continued by his son William Thomas Hews and on his death in 1898 he was succeeded by J. Chambers, the managing clerk. Chambers continued the business from premises at 17 Hart Street, Henley-on-Thames and on his death was succeeded by his nephew W G Weyman. In 1949 W. E. Weyman took over the business but it was sold in 1958 to Howard, Son and Gooch and subsequently to Hogg Robinson and Chancellors.
