Administrative / Biographical History
Dr Douglas A. Reid was a lecturer in the Department of Economic and Social History (subsequently in the Department of History) at the University of Hull, where he specialised in 19th century social and political history. Politically left-leaning, he was involved with Hull Labour Party (Avenues Ward), serving for a time as their secretary, as well as being involved with Hull END. He was a colleague of Professor John Saville and was acquainted with E.P. Thompson.
