Personal photographs and photograph negatives

As well as photographs of Julia Trevelyan Oman at various ages, this series contains boxes of colour photograph negatives. Most of these were taken by Julia, although JTO/89/11 were all taken by Sir Roy Strong, and detail personal images, including the cats kept by Julia and Sir Roy, the gradual development of the gardens at the Laskett as well as their holidays, both in the UK and overseas. Some of these holidays function as research trips so the images include museums, architecture, streetscapes and artworks, although some also function as records of the overseas cultural tours and cruises that Sir Roy Strong led. There are also photographs showing Julia's studio and its contents as they were in the summer of 2004.
