Administrative / Biographical History
Leonard George T. Wigg was born in 1900 and educated at Bishop's Stortford Grammar School; and Keble College, Oxford. He was on military service between the years 1939 and 1943 (captain).
Wigg's career with the Forestry and Agriculture Service in Tanganyika began in 1924 when he was appointed to the post of Assistant Conservator of Forests. He became a Silviculturist in Zanzibar in 1932, was appointed Senior Assistant Conservator in 1947, and was promoted to Deputy Conservator in 1949.
He wrote articles for agricultural / forestry journals and was the author of The Clove Plant, Nursery Practice and Estate Planting .
