The manuscript contains transcripts of two sets of minutes. The first comprises minutes of the Bury Classis between the years 1647 to 1657, taken from a manuscript in the John Walker Collection at the Bodleian Library. The second is of the Nottingham Classis between the years 1656 to 1660 that was taken from a manuscript then at the High Pavement Chapel in Nottingham. The Nottingham material was never published by Shaw. The volume also includes notes by Shaw and two letters to Shaw from F.C. Hopwood at Bury rectory, 1889, and one letter from James Harwood concerning the Nottingham manuscript, 1893.

Location of Originals
Oxford University, Bodleian Library, Special Collections and Western Manuscripts, holds the original manuscript of the Bury material among the John Walker Manuscripts (ref.: GB 0161 MSS J. Walker b. 1-2, c. 1-13, e. 1-12 ).
The original manuscript of the Nottingham material is now at the University of Nottingham as part of the High Pavement Chapel Collection (ref.: GB 0159 Hi ).
