These three documents were purchased at Southeby's in October 1982, as accession number 2059.

William Lenthall (1591-1662) was an Oxfordshire Member of Parliament and speaker of the House of Commons from 1640, during the Long Parliament. His younger brother was Sir John of Great Haseley, who bought the right to the manor of Bletchingdon in 1613 and conveyed it to Thomas Coghill in 1624.
