Scope and Content

An undated history of Mauritius, 412 pages, comprising a page inscribed 'No. 24 Notice Historique'; 'Table des Matieres de la Notice Historique' (numbered pp. 787-799); and a chronological account of events in Mauritius from 1507 to 1824 (numbered pp. 801-1196).

Marie Claude Antoine Marrier (1766-1831), Baron d'Unienville, was a colonial archivist in Mauritius.

Acquisition Information

The provenance of the collection is not known. It was identified as the work of Baron d'Unienville by H. Adolphe, of the Mauritius Government Archives, on the basis of the handwriting.
