Scope and Content

A collection of 14 loose prints (with 1 duplicate) created during visits to Africa by Dr K.E. Robinson between 1952 and 1962. Y304G1/-11 are photographs by the Uganda Public Relations Photographic Department, 220 x 115 mm. They were taken during a visit to Buganda in October 1952 by the Governor of Uganda Sir Andrew Cohen (1909-1968). Other people identified in the photographs include Lady Helen Cohen (nee Donington), John Pryor Birch, Resident of Buganda, and Private Secretary to the Governor Owen Glyn Griffith.

Administrative / Biographical History

Kenneth Ernest Robinson, CBE (b 1914) served in the Colonial Office from 1936-1948. From 1948-1957 he was Fellow of Nuffield College and Reader in Commonwealth Government; from 1957-1965 Director of the Institute of Commonwealth Studies in the University of London, and from 1965-1972 Vice-Chancellor of the University of Hong Kong.
