Administrative / Biographical History

The British Exploring Expedition, 1880 (leader Benjamin Leigh Smith) set out to explore East Greenland, Svalbard and the Russian Arctic. Exploring 176 km of new coast in Zemlya Frantsa-Iosifa. Leigh Smith and Eira returned to the Arctic with the British Exploring Expedition, 1881-1882.
