Scope and Content

Publications on the history of lighting (1851 - 1961); designs of light fittings, some annotated with details of scale, design number, destination, prices and materials (1930 - 1970); trade catalogues (ca.1937); album of drawings of furniture and light fittings (undated); drawings and photographs of exterior and interior views of Osler & Faraday Ltd premises (undated); photographs of interiors and light fittings (undated); scrapbooks containing press cuttings on architecture, the decorative arts and furniture, compiled by Adamson while at art college (undated).

Administrative / Biographical History

From 1922 to 1965 Arthur C. Adamson (1907 - 1999) worked for the firm Osler & Faraday Ltd, designing electric light fittings for churches, private houses and public buildings. In 1965 he set up his own business as a light fitting designer.
