Administrative / Biographical History

This company was formed as Continental Seaways Limited in 1944, the principal shareholders being the Tyne-Tees Shipping Company Limited of Newcastle upon Tyne. Its name was changed to Link Line (Continental) Limited in July 1962. It was acquired by Coast Lines Limited in 1962 and by P and O in 1971. In 1973 it was sold to the national road haulage and warehousing company, the Transport Development Group.
