Scope and Content

St. Frideswide is a church in the west of Oxford, on the Botley Road, sometimes known as 'New Osney'. It was consecrated in 1872, and the parish was created from part of the old parish of

Oxford St. Thomas. In 1979, St. Frideswide was united again with St. Thomas, and the parish of Binsey also incorporated with them.

There have been three deposits of records from the parish; one was made with the Bodleian Library in 1980, the other two directly with Oxfordshire Archives in 1993 and 1995 (which were assigned the Accession Numbers 3681and 4029). Two appendices respectively list the contents of each deposit, and provide a concordance of old and new references.

Catalogued by Robin Darwall-Smith in April 1996.
