Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
This was established in 1890 as a mixed department of the parish schools and, according to a note at the front of the log book, took 'First Standard Children'. It opened with 120 children on the register and throughout its history appeared to take around 100 pupils aged between about 7 and 12 years. According to the Annual Report of 1901 recorded in the log book (page 159) the school was comprised of pupils from the infants department and some from 'different parts of the town'. The mixed department closed in June 1904 and the pupils transferred to the boys and girls departments of the Doncaster National Schools (see SR.15 and SR.16).
