Administrative / Biographical History

Jack Rossiter was a celebrated cyclist of the inter-war period. He famously broke the Lands End to John O' Groats cycling record, 22nd-24th August 1929, in 61 hours and 22 minutes, riding a 3-speed Raleigh Club model. His success provided valuable promotion for Raleigh and Sturmey Archer and captured the imagination of the public at the time. The archive is believed to consist of items that once belonged to Rossiter.

Custodial History

The archive was purchased with money from a bequest to the Cycle Touring and Countryside Trust from the estate of Peter Richardson and deposited by Andrew Millward, September 2009.
