Administrative / Biographical History

Thomas E Jessop (1896 - 1980) was Professor of Philosophy at the University of Hull, 1928-61 and his wife Dora (nee Stewart) lectured in English literature in the Department of Adult Education, as well as writing poetry and novels. Professor Jessop prepared a bibliography of Scottish philosophy (published in 1938), and edited a major series of the works of George Berkeley, Bishop of Cloyne (1685-1753), in collaboration with Arthur Luce.
