Administrative / Biographical History
Edward ap Dafydd of Pentre Hobyn married Mallt, daughter of Robert Lloyd Hen. The estate descended in the male line for six generations. The seventh generation, Edward Lloyd, married Mary, eldest daughter and co-heiress of Thomas Lloyd of Trevor Hall, Valle Crucis Abbey, and Glanyrafon, Montgomeryshire. Their only surviving heir was Margaret Lloyd, who inherited the estates on the death of her brothers. She married Rice Thomas of Coed Helen, who lived at Brynyneuadd, Caernarfonshire, in 1782. Margaret and Rice were succeeded by their daughter, Pennant who married Col. William Iremonger of Wherwell Priory, Hampshire. Their heir was Pennant Athelwold Iremonger Lloyd, who assumed the surname of Lloyd in 1872 under the will of his grandmother, Margaret. Pennant was succeeded by his son, Commander Pennant Athelwold Iremonger Lloyd.
