John Albert Jones, ARICS (1906-1991) was a surveyor at Llay Hall Colliery, Llay, Denbighshire, 1923-1947. He subsequently went into private practice as a chartered surveyor, specialising in collieries, metalliferous mines, and slate and other quarries in north Wales. He collected historical items in connection with his work. He was a member of the Royal Observer Corps in 1947.
