Administrative / Biographical History

The National Farmers' Union was formed in 1908 to represent farmers and growers in England and Wales. Membership reached its peak in the 1950s, with 210,000. The Flintshire County Branch appears to have been started c. 1931, initially alongside a Hawarden Branch. It consists of several committees, including the County Executive, Finance and Organisation, County Milk, Milk Producers, Canvasser and other committees. The Branch accumulated some photographs relating to the Denbighshire and Flintshire Agricultural Society, which was instituted in 1839.
