Scope and Content

The trust was set up in 2002, on the initiative of Colonel George and Lieutenant Colonel Ian Thompson, then Commanding Officer of the Regiment. The overall aims as stated in the trust deed are to promote the efficiency of the Regiment, educate the public concerning the history of the Regiment and encourage recruitment, and to relieve need in persons serving or having served in the Regiment. Among the first actions of the trust were accepting the transfer of ownership of the Regimental silver and other chattels from the Officers' Mess, and purchasing from Monmouthshire County Council the war memorial and the strip of land on which it stands, located at the far end of the parade ground
