Photographs of children (mostly primary school children) taking part in art classes during 1950 and 1951; and photographs of children's artwork.
These were collected by Prid Lasenby (nee E N Pridham or Norah Tregellis Pridham), an artist and teacher, who helped organise the exhibition these photos were used in. Prid Lasenby was an artist and teacher and studied at Slade School of Art. She was also a member of Council of The Society for Education in Art.
In 1951 the Sunday Pictorial and other individuals took photographs about art lessons in (mostly primary) schools around the country, but mostly in London.
The photographs were then used in an exhibition on children's art organised by Herbert Reed in the 1950s.
A book on the subject was also to be published by Pilkington and Pilkington which included a section by Mrs Lasenby on art teaching and teacher training. This section (and perhaps also the book) was never published.
The photographs were collected by Mrs [Lasenby] which were then passed onto her daughter.
