This collection comprises sketches, correspondence and press cuttings albums of George Edward Wade.

Administrative / Biographical History

George Edward Wade, British sculptor, was born in London in 1853. He was largely self-taught as an artist and is best remembered for his statues of royalty, including Queen Victoria, King Edward VII and Alexandra of Denmark, as well as other famous figures, notably, William Booth and his wife, Catherine Booth. He died on the 5 February 1933.
