Scope and Content

Description of: travels in France, Belgium and England, including a visit to the Marquis de Montmorency at Beaumesnil; visit, on 27 November 1823, to a Mlle. Fouchet who visited Queen Marie Antoinette in prison, taking her clothing and food, and arranging for Mass to be said in her cell by the Cure of St. Germain l'Auxerrois; meeting with Washington Irving and Miss Knight, late governess to Princess Charlotte of England; interesting description of travelling conditions of the time
