(according to the entries, all three must have been kept for a considerable time at the summit of Snowdon). Very interesting and varied signatures; people from all over the world (Oxford and Cambridge very well represented); plenty of poetic effusions, and (inevitably) the futile, facetious remarks of simpletons who had too much time on their hands. Several entries in Welsh, notably that of the poet Talhaiarn (4151, September 19 1848) and the flamboyant scriptor of "Oes y byd i'r Gymraeg" (4152, 22 September 1848). The dates of all three books overlap; possibly they were devoted respectively to the interests of different guides.
