Administrative / Biographical History

The Arskey Endowed School, founded in c. 1660 as an endowed Grammar School, was situated in the centre of the village by the parish church. From 1872 it was a mixed school, and renamed at various times Arksey Council School (1926), Arskey Junior Mixed and Infants School and Arksey Council Primary School (1949). A new school was built in 1970, operating as a First and Middle School.
