Administrative / Biographical History
In 1902, Arthur William Alchin (1888-1950) began working at Tough & Henderson Ltd (later Tough Brothers Ltd), a boat-building and boat repair company with sites at Blackfriars and later Teddington. Arthur managed the business from 1930 until his death in 1950. Arthur's two aunts, Emma Fisher Alchin and Jane Ann Alchin lived at 6a The Terrace, Barnes, and Arthur looked after their financial affairs and the management of the property.
