Administrative / Biographical History

The first entry in the log book records that the school was 're-opened as the Askern Board School' on 29 October 1877 with mixed and infants departments. School Boards were abolished by the 1902 Education Act and the school came under the control of the West Riding County Council and was renamed Askern Council (Provided) School.
