Henry Martin Aitken was a surgical instrument maker who lived in the Bishophill area. He married Elizabeth Aitken and they had six children - Lydia, Rose, Henry Horatio, Violet, Edith, and Charles. Henry Horatio Aitken married Annie Brown, they had a son, Henry George Aitken, known as 'Harry' in the family, born in 1877.
