Scope and Content

Relating to disputes within the Episcopal Church in general and those involving Alexander Penrose Forbes, Bishop of Brechin in particular. Correspondents are: Edward Bannerman-Ramsay; Alexander Beresford-Hope; Colin L. Blenkinsopp; Charles W. Boase; William Bright; J.G. Cazenove; Alexander Penrose Forbes; William Ewart Gladstone; Henry Humble; John Keble; "I.J.P."; Edward Bouverie Pusey; Joseph Robertson; James Smith; Charles Hugh Terrot; Walter John Trower. George Frederick Boyle, (1825-1890), was a life long associate and supporter of Alexander Penrose Forbes. He succeeded his half brother as 6th Earl of Glasgow in 1869. He founded and endowed the College and Collegiate Church of the Holy Spirit on the island of Cumbrae in 1849. [See also MS 54].
