Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Tondu was a modern parish within the diocese of Llandaff situated 3 miles north of Bridgend in the hundred of Ogmore. It was created from Newcastle parish in 1923. The parish church of St John's is situated in Aberkenfig. A mission church in Coytrahen was formed in 1896 and dedicated to St Thomas in 1935, this closed in 1999. In 2002 Tondu Parish merged with St Brides Minor and Bettws to form the Parish of St Brides Minor with Bettws with Aberkenfig, which then changed its name in 2004 to Llansantffraid, Bettws and Aberkenfig (referred to as LBA in some records).
