Administrative / Biographical History

Ralph S.F. Eglen (1918- ) was a founder and director of Troward and Eglen Ltd, publishers. From 1972 to 1983 he lived at Whispering Firs, Ashridge Lane, Tigley, Totnes, Devon. Whispering Firs was built in the early 1970s, and as at 2014 the garden was described on rightmove.co.uk as having ‘many specimen trees and plants creating privacy. The garden is mainly laid to lawn with superb borders providing a profusion of colour. There are two terraces and an inner walled garden with gate and archway opening through to a more private and intimate section of garden, again with well-established shrubs and plants. This is divided by a substantial greenhouse and a terraced walkway around the vegetable growing areas’
