The Mission House at 11 Clark's Row was opened by Beatrice Hatch in 1907, as a development of her work in the Oxford Police Court Mission, founded two years earlier. It provided accommodation for women remanded by the courts, a temporary home for women under the observation of the Mental Health Committee and a shelter for homeless and destitute women.
Later there was also a training school, providing training in the skills needed for domestic service. The house was enlarged in 1921 and partly demolished in 1938, when it was adapted to form part of Skene House. Miss Hatch continued to support the OCMWA until her death in 1947.
