Scope and Content

Contains papers relating to June Preston's role as Publicity Manager for the All England Ladies' Lacrosse Association (AELLA). These include correspondence between Preston and various newspaper and newsreel organisations; Publicity Reports for AELLA; bundle of loose press cuttings featuring the England team and in particular the England Touring Team to the United States in 1954.

Administrative / Biographical History

Born around 1930, June Preston taught Physical Education at Harrow County School and later at Norwich High School for Girls. Preston was first selected to play lacrosse for England Reserves in 1954 and was promoted to the England team in March 1955. She continued playing for England until 1957. Preston served as the Publicity Manager for the All England Ladies' Lacrosse Association for the years 1952-1955.

The papers were found amongst the All England Women's Lacrosse Association Archive gifted to the University of Bedfordshire by the English Lacrosse Association in November 2014 under Accession No. AWL2014/001.
