These were obtained by Frederick Charles Danvers (Registrar and Superintendent of Records at the India Office from 1884 to 1898) from the archives at the Hague, Lisbon, and Evora etc between 1891 and 1895. The Dutch collection (1600-1700) mainly comprises correspondence with Indonesia. The Portuguese material (1475-1800)) relates principally to Portuguese possessions in India.
