Scope and Content

Mr David Wynn Williams was a local historian from Ruthin who attended Borthyn Primary School and Ruthin School. During his career he became chief clerk in the education department of Denbighshire County Council and later moved into social services in Clwyd County Council. During his retirement he became interested in local history and became involved in a number of local groups and societies became become Chair of Denbighshire Historical Society and founded the Ruthin History Group and the Coelion Trust, a charity whose objectives were to spread the knowledge of the history of north-east Wales. David Williams was also involved in the publication "Rhuthun Local History Broadsheet" and a member of the English Presbyterian Church, Ruthin.

Most of his collection consists of slides and personal research notes for publications and talks. Where possible his own filing system has been retained, but this has led to some duplication.
