Notes on cataloguing and classification, 1925-1928; correspondence, 1928-1942, 1957; copies of articles and offprints, and cuttings of press reviews; and papers of his father-in-law, Hugh Evans, 1952-1955, mainly notes on publishing, periodicals, etc.

Administrative / Biographical History

William Williams (1885-1950), FLA, was Keeper of Printed Books at the National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth. He was born on 21st April 1885 in Walton, Liverpool the son of Daniel Hugh Williams and Lucy Kyfin. He was educated at the Oake's Institute, Walton. He married Sarah Jane Evans in August 1915; she was the daughter of Hugh Evans (1854-1934), printer and publisher, owner of Gwasg y Brython press, Liverpool. They had two sons. Williams was the Honorary Editor of the National Union Catalogue for Wales; he was also member of the Cymmrodorion Society and Welsh Bibliographical Society, and a lecturer on Classification at the Library Association Summer School, Aberystwyth, 1922-1928.
