Administrative / Biographical History

Evelyn Llewellyn worked as a nurse at The Rest, Porthcawl, during the First World War. She has signed the autograph book 'Evelyn Llewellyn, Canford, Porthcawl'. On the 1911 census, 'Canford' is listed as a boarding house.

The Rest was taken over as a military hospital during the First World War and the autograph book contains poems, drawings and cartoons by soldiers being treated there between 1916 and 1917.
