Scope and Content

Ts drafts of Graves's 'Address to the Poets of Hungary' given to the Hungarian PEN Club in Budapest, and subsequently published in 'Difficult Questions, Easy Answers'. Graves talks about poetry and the mythology associated with cranes and horses. An appended footnote suggests that these are drafts for the published version of the speech. The date given on the drafts is 1970, but Martin Seymour-Smith in 'Robert Graves: His Life and Work' (London: Abacus, 1983) gives the date of the lecture as 28 May 1971 (p.562).
